Alum from Hutchinson accepts church relations role at MNU in Olathe/nr 11/30/2010
OLATHE - MidAmerica Nazarene University (MNU) recently named Kevin G. Borger of Hutchinson as assistant to the president for Church Relations.
The 1991 MNU graduate earned a bachelor of arts in church music and has spent a 20-year career as a worship pastor and administrator for churches in Iowa, Idaho, Ohio, and Kansas; most recently at First Church of the Nazarene in Hutchinson.
A skilled musician, Borger traveled in a student public relations music group for MNU. Coupled with his experience in event planning and production, marketing, and other support services for churches, Borger has a unique combination of skills that complement his understanding of the challenges faced by church leaders.
MNU President Ed Robinson said Borger's experience is well suited to the position that serves as liaison between MNU and the churches of the North Central region, which includes Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
"Kevin brings a strong complement of skills, passion, and perspective to this important assignment, providing servant leadership to our constituents across the region," Robinson said.
Borger's outside interests are varied, including auctioneering, a skill he has honed since his college days at MNU's Autumn Auction. Having won the 1998 Idaho State Auctioneering Championship and the 2000 Kansas State title, he progressed to international competition, becoming a 2009 International Champion Auctioneer.
Borger and his wife Beth, a 1988 MNU graduate, have three children and are moving to Olathe.
