County Commissioner receives Lifetime Achievement Award/nr 02/16/2010

Reno County Commissioner Frances Garcia is being awarded by the United States Hispanic Leadership Institutes's (USHLI) as the 2010 Recipient of the Hank Lacayo Lifetime Achievement Award!

Officials say Garcia is traveling to Chicago this week to receive this honor.

The organization of giving special recognition to some truly outstanding members of the Latino leadership community.

Garcia just recently completed her 25th year of service as an elected official.

When Garcia was elected Mayor of Hutchinson in 1985, she became the first Latino to be elected mayor in the Midwest.

She presently serves as a County Commissioner in Reno County.

She's received numerous awards for distinguished service and continues to serve as a role model for Latino youth everywhere.
